Abstract
Maxillary sinus surgery for recurrent acute and chronic sinusitis is predicated on the belief of reestablishing mucociliary flow. Success involves restoring patency of the outflow tract. The technique described here successfully accomplishes this result in the vast majority of patients who do not have a primary mucous membrane defect. The technique is relatively simple and can be accomplished with a low risk of synechia or stenosis.
