Abstract
In this review, we aim to (1) outline the nature and scale of metastatic skeletal disease; (2) describe the role of the multidisciplinary musculoskeletal medical and surgical team; and (3) discuss and illustrate the diagnostic pathology approach with emphasis on its clinical relevance. The employment of immunohistochemistry in helping to establish the occult primary site of metastatic skeletal tumours is reviewed.
