Abstract
We present a case of a middle-aged woman with an unremarkable past medical history who was seen to have two unilateral renal masses as an incidental radiological finding. Histopathology revealed the tumours to be a cystic nephroma and an angiomyolipoma. Both cystic nephroma and angiomyolipoma are mixed benign neoplasms composed of cells of different etiology. Synchronous unilateral renal tumours with different histology are rare with few published cases. Clinical experience is important for the correct diagnosis and familial syndromes with multiple neoplasms should be discarded. To our knowledge, the present case is the first reported association of angiomyolipoma and cystic nephoma.
