Abstract

Benign peripheral nerve sheath tumours are relatively common and the three main types are neuroma, neurofibroma, and schwannoma. However, the benign epithelioid variant of soft tissue schwannoma is extremely rare and a careful differential diagnosis must be made with other benign and malignant entities. A case of an epithelioid schwannoma in a 48 year-old-man is presented and the histological and immunohistochemical differential diagnosis is discussed. The relevant literature is reviewed.
