•There is limited surgical literature published with respect to neonatal intubated enterostomy in any kind of intestinal atresia.•We believe that intubated enterostomy is an interesting procedure to treat complex atresia having multiple benefits.•Due to the above stated there is little experience of pediatric surgeons on regard high jejunal atresia.•Favorable evolution of the patient and no complication.
We present the case of a newborn patient with diagnosis of proximal jejunal atresia type IIIa, complicated with volvulus due to a congenital band. An innovative and alternative procedure is proposed compared to other decompressive and functionalizing stoma techniques utilized for diversion of fecal stream. In our case a T-tube enterostomy presented multiple benefits for the patient. The advantages of the procedure used are discussed.
