Abstract
Despite some similarities, clinical manifestations and outcome were more severe in HIV-infected children. One important way to reduce the mortality rate due to severe malnutrition could be to reinforce the fighting against HIV infection, by ameliorating the prevention of the mother-to-child transmission and the nutritional follow-up of HIV-infected children.
