Abstract
Children with nephrotic syndrome (NS) primarily present to their general practitioner or general paediatrician. Shared care with a paediatric nephrologist is recommended for all difficult cases of NS. This review discusses the approach to management of NS in childhood and it is hoped that it will provide primary care physicians with a useful reference when dealing with a child with NS. The focus will mainly be steroid-sensitive NS.
