This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief. Please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/withdrawalpolicy).Reason: Data pertaining to a DRD4 polymorphism, rs4646984, had mistakenly been pasted into a column containing 5-HTTLPR data. As both polymorphisms are promoter length polymorphisms and were coded by s for short alleles and l for long alleles, this error was not noticed until recently. Upon correcting the mis-specified genotypes, effects of the 5-HTT gene promoter on all measures of cortical excitability became non-significant (p>0.1). The authors therefore can no longer maintain the claims made in the article regarding the putative impact of 5-HTTLPR genotype on parameters of cortical excitability. The authors wish to express their regrets for the confusion and the inconvenience caused by the incorrect information contained in this article.
