Abstract
At the present time, it would be impossible to explain the mechanism of action of psychotropic drugs without mentioning the interference they provoke in the synapse. Similarly, the main etiopathogenic theories of mental disorders (such as the dopaminergic hypothesis of schizophrenia or the monoaminergic hypothesis of affective disorders) are based on the concept of synaptic connections.
