Abstract
Duloxetine has a dual action both as a serotonin and as a noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor. While some recent research shows that the analgesic effects cannot be distinguished from the antidepressant effects of this drug, other investigations show that the effect of duloxetine on pain perception is independent from the antidepressive effect. The clinical course of the case presented herein seems to support the hypothesis that duloxetine contributes independently to improvement of both somatic and pain symptoms.
