Abstract
This article provides an introduction to “facilic supervision” an innovative method for training residents to gather comprehensive databases while creating a naturally flowing conversational feel to the interview. Facilic supervision allows residents to better understand what topics they choose to explore, how they go about exploring them, how they make transitions from topic to topic, and how they manage their time constraints. Facilic supervision includes a graphic system for visually tracking a trainee's structuring of an interview designed for both individual and group supervision. The article includes a brief programmed text for learning the system.
