Abstract
When focusing on the needs of individuals with dementia and their support network, there is a broad range of key objectives; these include: diagnosis; information; treatment of dementia; treatment of secondary behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD); organization of a tailored care and support package; supporting carers. This article focuses on several specific aspects of treatment, particularly issues pertaining to the management of BPSD, and some of the principles of individualized care.
