Abstract
Culture affects sexual dysfunction in terms of presentation, causation and understanding, and treatment. Differences have been noted in the prevalence and presentation of sexual disorders across cultures, including a number of ‘culture-bound syndromes’. Culture can influence various aspects, including beliefs, perceptions and attitudes to sex. Education, tailored therapy and a flexible approach are the cornerstones of effective treatment.
