Abstract
Psychological and social interventions are used singly or as adjuncts to drug treatment. Health visitor counselling, and individual psychotherapy are effective, can be given in a group setting and adapted to treat women with other disorders and pregnant women. Multidisciplinary services should relate to maternity care professionals, the voluntary sector and meet the needs of mothers and fathers.
