Abstract
Thoracic surgery remains the gold-standard for early-stage non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC). Prognosis of NSCLC is poor if patients don't undergo surgery. Patients with resectable tumor may not undergo surgery because of borderline operability. The respiratory function is often involved in this borderline operability. Pulmonary rehabilitation improves patients'respiratory function before a lung cancer surgery. It also decreases morbidity and mortality due to surgery, and decreases length of stay in hospital. Moreover, noninvasive ventilation (NIV) is frequently used in postoperative period in ICU. What about the usefulness of NIV before undergoing thoracic surgery?
