Abstract
Sleep apnea syndrome causes metabolic disorders by chronic intermittent hypoxia and sleep fragmentation. Somes metabolic syndrome criteria such as obesity can change the apnea hypopnea index per hour of sleep. Tissue hypoxia is tissue depending and so it's the same for the histological and metabolic responses. The liver is one of the most sensitive organ, in order to highlight histological injury, there are non-invasive diagnostic tests in fatty liver. This liver injury is significant because it seems to exist a link with endothelial injury and so with the cardio-vascular risk. Treatment with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) only does not seem effective to metabolic abnormalities and cardio-vascular risk. It's necessary to have a global approach of the treatment with dietetic approach, weight loss, physical activity and CPAP treatment.
