Abstract
Chronic diseases such as neuromuscular disorders can lead to isolation of disabled persons. New medical devices lead to a lot of difficulties in home support for the patient and his family. The low number of competent medicalized childcare facilities and timeout is problematic for the management of these patients. The role of caregivers is important. They can be relatives within and outside the family. They can participate in various tasks helping the disabled (e.g care, shopping, the settlement of administrative tasks). Their help can be invaluable for optimal management. Their skills tend to expand and require training by health professionnals. The network “SLA Paris ile de france” highlights the important role of caregivers and performs training and support for the realization of concrete factsheets on the care of the disabled person. The role of the caregiver is crucial given the socio-economic and demographic context wich tends to increase the number of dependent persons, the isolation of people with disabilities and the lack of solution for their support.
