Abstract
Thymic epithelial neoplasms include thymomas and thymic carcinomas. These rare malignancies have an estimated incidence around 250 new cases in France every year. The WHO histologic classification distinguishes various subgroups (A, AB, B1, B2, B3 and C), which prognosis range from indolent to aggressive. The prognosis is also defined by the Masaoka-Koga staging system. Diagnosis, multimodal treatment and followup of thymic epithelial neoplasms require a multidisciplinary approach. Surgery is the cornerstone treatment and peri-operative treatments indications are based on the stage and pathological subtype. RYTHMIC (www.rythmic.org) is a French network dedicated to thymic malignancies sponsored by INCa, including a bi-site national expert center and 12 other regional expert centers. Patient's files have to be discussed with regional or national multidisciplinary staff. This review is based on RYTHMIC guidelines to describe the multimodal management of epithelial thymic neoplasms.
