Abstract
It nonetheless remains true that there are two main research focuses exploring treatments for human solid tumours. The first of these is based on the concept of oncogene addiction and involves adapting the treatment to targets generated by somatic mutations. This research field is underpinned by identification of biomarkers. The second approach is to take into account the tumour microenvironment. This is an integral approach to tumour progression that can be applied to any organ.
