Abstract
The cardiovascular prognosis of sleep apnea syndrome (SAS) is still a major concern. In this field, looking for new markers results in the demonstration of nocturia as an important predictor of less reduction in blood pressure under CPAP, and suggests a role of an increased mean platelet volume in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular risk in obstructive sleep apnea patients. Adaptative pressure support servo-ventilation appears as the most efficient treatment in patients with chronic heart failure associated with Cheyne Stokes breathing.
