Abstract
Aging is associated with cardiac, respiratory and muscular dysfunctions. Several mechanisms are involved in aging, particularly oxidative stress and its impact on mitochondrial function. Exercise allows activation on satellite cell but at the same time generates oxidative stress that is potentially deletereious. Exercise of the elderly should be monitored and positive and negative effects of exercise in this population should be balanced. Its purpose is to maintain these patients' autonomy.
