Abstract
Early childhood is a period when the respiratory system is highly vulnerable, notably to environmental insults. Parental smoking is an avoidable cause of upper tract respiratory infections and respiratory manifestations, including asthma. Educational programs aiming at limiting exposure to passive smoking have to date had limited results.
