Abstract
The weight of occupational factors in the development of asthma is important. The occupational asthma incidence in France is largely underestimated by the medical and legal statistics. The fraction of risk that can be attributed to occupational factors may be on the order of 15%-20% according to recent epidemiological data. The main individual risk factor is atopy, which increases the risk of asthma in cases of occupational exposure to high-molecular-weight allergens.
