Abstract
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a major public health issue, with a 7.5 % prevalence in France. Even if the main symptom, dyspnea, remains difficult to evaluate, objective clinical assessment using various scales and questionnaires is fundamental to appreciate therapeutic effects. Identification of phenotypic subsets is permitted by efforts directed at improving our knowledge on pathophysiological processes. Future innovation could spread out the development of more specific treatments.
