Abstract
Radiation-induced pneumonitis can also lead to an alteration of quality of life (shortness of breath) and in some cases, can cause death. Development of new radiotherapy techniques (3D and 4D radiotherapy), modern radiation technologies (multileaf collimatorâ¦), better knowledge of irradiated volume (CT scan for volume delineation, fusion with PETâ¦), better knowledge of lung dose constraints (analysis of dose volume histogram during the 3D dosimetry) lead to an improvement of the quality of radiation therapy and reduce the rate of symptomatic radiation-induced pneumonitis.
