Abstract
Heidenhain variant of Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD) is a rare progressive neurodegenerative disorder, characterized by inaugural visual symptoms isolated for some weeks. We report a new case of Heidenhaim variant and present MRI evolution at different stages of disease. Despite the fact that cerebral MRI is helpful for diagnosis particularly with the sensitivity and specificity of fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR), diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) mapping, this imaging must be negative at an early stage. In case of non-explained visual disorders, we must repeat MRI to show characteristic, rapidly and progressive cortical and basal nuclei intensity.
