Abstract
With the lack of radiographic signs, ultrasonography may serve as an excellent tool to diagnose necrotizing enterocolitis and an early referral of patients to surgery if complication occurs. The unique aspect of this case is that the classic disease symptoms did not present themselves and diagnosis was inconclusive with the plain abdominal radiographs. The case shows the utility of abdominal sonography in conjunction with a strong clinical suspicion of necrotizing enterocolitis when the findings in plain abdominal radiograph are inconclusive.
