Abstract

Pelvic congestion syndrome is a generally overlooked disease that is manifested by chronic pelvic pain with no identifiable organic cause. The association of pelvic congestion with ovarian varicosities is known for many years. Therefore ultrasonography (US), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and venography may be used for demonstrating the dilated veins. The treatment is based on ligating or occluding the varicose veins. Here we report a case of pelvic congestion syndrome that was successfully treated by transcatheter embolization.
