Abstract
The evaluation and management of patients with renal infection can be difficult. The traditional radiologic examination is usually excretory urography. However, the findings are often nonspecific. Cross-sectional imaging modalities such as ultrasound, computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging may be helpful in localizing focal renal inflammatory disease and demonstrating extension into the retroperitoneum. In this review, we present our experience in the evaluation of renal infectious disease using ultrasound and review the pertinent literature.
