Prise en charge des cancers de la prostate : points de vue du radiothérapeute

RésuméEn 2011, le cancer de la prostate se positionne clairement comme un problème de santé publique. La radiothérapie a connu ces vingt dernières années des avancées significatives avec l’avènement de la radiothérapie de conformation tridimensionnelle comme standard dans la prise en charge des adénocarcinomes prostatiques et maintenant avec l’apport de la modulation d’intensité qui permet d’envisager un incrément de dose sur le volume cible prévisionnel sans toxicité surajoutée pour les organes à risque. L’association radio-hormonothérapie pour les cancers de haut risque est également rentrée dans la pratique courante. La médecine nucléaire à travers de nouveaux traceurs et de nouvelles indications va probablement permettre aux praticiens prenant en charge ces patients de mieux définir les indications et de mieux déterminer les patients qui bénéficieront authentiquement d’une stratégie thérapeutique plus que d’une autre, voire même de les associer…
