Abstract
Acute kidney injury secondary to unilateral ureterolithiasis in the non-single kidney patient is present in a significant percentage of patients, predominantly in men, and most cases of acute kidney injury are associated with a distal presentation of ureterolithiasis at the time of diagnosis. Given the distal character, and the average size of the stone, most ureterolithiasis even with acute kidney injury can be managed with medical expulsive therapy, and only some patients require renal drainage.
