Abstract

β-tri- and tetrabrominated meso-Tetraphenylporphyrinatomanganese(III) acetate as electron deficient Mn-porphyrins are efficient catalysts for chemoselective oxidation of sulfides to the corresponding sulfones with tetra-n-butylammonium hydrogen monopersulfate in the presence of imidazole.

Graphical abstractA simple, catalytic and highly chemo-selective oxidation of sulfides to the corresponding sulfones in the presence of β-tri- and tetra-brominated meso-tetraphenylporphyrinatomanganes(III) acetate as electron deficient Mn–porphyrins with tetra-n-butylammonium hydrogen monopersulfate and imidazole was described.
