Abstract
Post-operative peritonits usually results from intra-operative or delayed injury to a digestive organ ; it is accompanied by a high mortality rate. Prognosis is directly related to early diagnosis and appropriate re-intervention. Clinical and laboratory signs of gravity impose prompt re-operation. Imaging exams such as CT will aid in diagnosis and guide the therapeutic approach. Treatment specifically adapted to the etiologic cause must be thorough and complete from the start.
