Abstract

This article has been retracted: please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/withdrawalpolicy).This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief.It has been identified that the article "The Role of Pancreatic Leakage on Rising of Postoperative Complications Following Pancreatic Surgery" published in the J. Surg. Res., 149 (2008) 272-277 and the article "Postoperative Complications Linked to Pancreaticoduodenectomy: An Analysis of Pancreatic Stump Management" published in the J. Gastrointestin Liver Dis., 17 (2008) 43-47 represent duplicate publications. We have notified the authors that the article will be retracted and that review or publication of any article from any author of either publication will not be allowed in the Journal of Surgical Research for a period of three years, effective immediately. We have also apprized the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease, who shares our deep concern. Duplicate publication is a serious form of scientific misconduct. Elsevier policies note that there are many forms of "duplicate" publication, ranging from "publication of the same article at virtually the same time by the same author, generally resulting from simultaneous submission, to "self-plagiarism" (submitting the same article to a different journal some time after the original publication), to describing the same research in a slightly different way and seeking to publish the two articles." The policy and its application are established by the editor-in-chief and editorial board.
