Abstract
⺠Explicit hemodynamic evidence supports the response conflict theory of the Stroop effect. ⺠Functional near infrared imaging (fNIRS) can detect subthreshold motor cortex activation. ⺠fNIRS dissociates functionally different early and later parts of the hemodynamic response.
