Abstract
⺠A clinically-relevant animal model of perinatal asphyxia remains unavailable. ⺠The uterine horns of the parturient rat dam were subjected to ischemia directly before birth. ⺠Perinatal ischemic injury induces neuronal death and cognitive dysfunction. ⺠This model can be used for investigating therapeutic interventions.
