Abstract
⺠We compared processing of pronounceable pseudowords and consonant strings. ⺠All nonword stimuli differed from a real word by a single letter (STRENG, STRBNG). ⺠Differences in the ERPs generated by the two types of nonword emerged late (290 ms). ⺠Early effects of priming by a word neighbor (e.g., STRONG) were found.
