Abstract
⺠The Na+-driven Cl/HCO3 exchanger NDCBE in neurons is upregulated by chronic acid loads in a cell-specific manner. ⺠The NDCBE upregulation is substantial and varies depending upon the type of neurons. ⺠The upregulation is not due to a generalized response to acidic stimuli, but it occurs in a cell-type specific manner.
