A recoverable poly(vinylpyrrolidone)-supported cupric acetate catalyst was prepared and characterized by FT-IR, XPS, ESR, UV-DRS and AAS techniques. The catalyst was used in the sulfimidation of sulfides in the presence of PhI = NTs [(N-(p-tolylsulfonyl)imino]phenyliodinane to obtain the corresponding sulfimides in good to excellent yields. The catalyst was used for four cycles with consistent activity. Chiral sulfimides were obtained with moderate enantioselectivities in the presence of chiral bis(oxazoline) ligands.
