Abstract
► We have examined the neuromodulation of sensory responses after spinal cord injury in lamprey. ► Proprioceptive responses were potentiated and GABAergic inhibition reduced after lesioning. ► Blocking endogenous GABA increased proprioceptive responses only in lesioned animals. ► GABAergic modulation differed depending on the extent of recovery. ► Somatostatin alone had no effect, but in lesioned animals it reduced the effects of GABA.
