Abstract
⺠We examine attention-specific speech recognition with a competing talker. ⺠Young and older normal-hearing listeners differ with regard to divided attention. ⺠Speech recognition scores for selective attention are related to working memory. ⺠A measure of fluid intelligence predicts speech recognition during divided attention. ⺠Frontal lobe functions affect speech recognition in the elderly.
