Abstract
⺠Majority of SPNs innervating the MPG in female rats reside in DCN. ⺠DCN and IML SPNs have similar cell volume and shape. ⺠IC SPNs display significant shape elongation compared to DCN and IML SPNs. ⺠Coverage by boutons of SPN soma and dendrites is sparse. ⺠SPN soma and dendrites are predominantly covered by putatively inhibitory boutons.
