Abstract
⺠Global reduction in brain adenosine specifically impairs working memory. ⺠Elevation of cortical adenosine yielded the same but more severe phenotype. ⺠Under- and over-activation of A1 and A2A receptors, respectively, appear crucial. ⺠Normal working memory requires cortical/hippocampal adenosine homeostasis.
