Abstract
â¶We examined the effect of SDF1 gene delivered at different phases of stroke. â¶Pre-stroke delivery of SDF1 gene elicits immediate effects through neuroprotection. â¶Pre-stroke delivery of SDF1 gene also confers delayed effects because of neurogenesis. â¶SDF1 delivery in the subacute stage generates only delayed beneficial effects. â¶SDF1 might have a wide therapeutic time window in the treatment of stroke.
