Abstract
â¶Human brain can synthetize estrogens by means of the enzyme aromatase. â¶Brain areas expressing aromatase express estrogen receptors also. â¶Locally synthetized estrogens are involved in synaptic plasticity. â¶Locally synthetized estrogens are involved in cell survival and neurogenesis.
