Abstract
â¶Acute ethanol (75 mM) transiently enhanced firing rate of VTA-DA neurons. â¶ Acute ethanol (75 mM) increased frequency of GABAergic-mIPSCs. â¶Mu-opioid receptor activation altered GABA release but not VTA-DA firing rate. â¶GABAA receptor blockade enhanced ethanol stimulation of VTA-DA firing. â¶GABAA receptor agonist uncovers inhibitory effect of ethanol on firing rate.
