Abstract
â¶In neurons of the visual cortex the original optimal spatial frequency changes after adaptation. â¶A new preferred spatial frequency is acquired because the peak of the tuning curve shifts toward the adaptor. â¶After recovery, repeating adaptation further augments shifts and neuronal responses. â¶Thus, cortical neurons are able to remember previously applied adapting stimuli.
