Abstract
The results show that in adult rabbit the degree of myelin ensheathment of optic axons increases from the eye to the brain. The thicker myelin sheaths of regions near the brain probably have a slower turnover. Possible regional differences in the distribution and/or metabolism of oligodendrocytes are discussed.
