Abstract
⺠The effect of DISC1 on gray matter was examined with magnetic resonance imaging. ⺠Risk allele increased gray matter density in parahippocampal gyrus of schizophrenia. ⺠Risk allele increased gray matter density in orbitofrontal cortex of schizophrenia. ⺠The effects in schizophrenia were opposite to those in healthy controls. ⺠DISC1 confers risk to schizophrenia by affecting gray matter in these brain regions.
