Abstract
⺠A present study examined the role of AMPK in regulation of sympathetic nerve tones. ⺠Central injection of AICAR or compound C increased sympathetic nerve activities in rats. ⺠Effects of leptin on sympathetic excitation were suppressed in rats pre-treated with AICAR or compound C. ⺠We concluded that the AMPK may be involved in the sympathetic activation of adrenal gland and kidney.
